Atascadero State Mental Hospital

The Santa Barbara North County H&I Committee is dedicated to providing AA meetings and literature to those confined to hospitals, jails, prisons and other facilities that request support from Alcoholics Anonymous. We currently serve 5 facilities (Santa Maria Juvenile Detention Facility,  Federal Corrections Institution - Lompoc, Federal Prison Camp - Lompoc, Atascadero State Mental Hospital, and Bridgehouse Homeless Shelter - Lompoc) with approximately 31 panels/meetings per month.

We share our experience, strength, and hope in harmony with the 5th Tradition and are not affiliated with these facilities in accordance with the 9th Tradition.
The Santa Barbara North County H&I Committee meets on the Third Thursday of every month at 5:30PM at the Valley of the Flowers Half Century Club, 341 N. N St. Lompoc. Map of 341 N. N St. Lompoc

We strongly encourage you to attend our monthly meetings to find out how to qualify for participation in any of these commitments. We are always looking for responsible AA members who are willing to carry the message to the suffering alcoholic.

Federal Corrections Institution Lompoc

Santa Maria Juvenile Detention Facility

Santa Barbara North County H&I (SBNCHIC) committee is supported by direct A.A. member donations and contributions from A.A. meeting groups through a portion of their 7th Tradition collections or passing the “H&I Can”. In addition to taking meetings into hospitals and institutions, the H&I committee provides A.A. approved literature to these facilities.

Because of the special nature of some of the institutions which are served by H&I, it may be necessary for individuals to be granted clearance by the facility before attending their meetings. This process of qualification is particularly true of local jails, state prisons and federal penitentiaries. Minimum sobriety requirements may apply as well.
H&I is always available for other hospitals and institutions where the AA program would be beneficial. We ask the public and AA members to advise us of any opportunities to be of service.

The Southern California H&I Intergroup is comprised of delegates from the Hospital and Institution committees, and liaisons from General Service Areas, within Southern California. Their sole purpose is to establish a stronger unity between these H&I committees and General Service Areas by the exchange of their experience, strength and hope, that they may be better able to carry out H&I's primary purpose of carrying the A.A. message to those confined in hospitals, jails and prisons.
